"Summer Job Money" is a feel-good jam where Chris Lane recalls getting a summer job as a 17-year-old to pay for college. Years later, he tells his girl it's a good thing they didn't meet when he was 17 as he'd have blown all his hard-earned summer job money on her.
John Byron and Blake Pendergrass wrote the nostalgic tune. Lane said when he first heard "Summer Job Money" he immediately related to it because he'd worked a landscaping job until the very moment he signed his record deal.
Lane's regular man behind the boards, Joey Moi, created the song's upbeat acoustic production.
