Peñate told The London Times March 28, 2009 that he wrote this song after being "a naughty boy." The singer-songwriter explained that he had staying up partying for so long that "the clock said 4 o'clock and I had no idea which four it was - no clue whatsoever!"
Peñate's maternal grandfather is the author and illustrator Mervyn Peake, who is best known for writing the Gormenghast series of novels.
Peñate told the NME June 27, 2009 that this song, "is very much about maybe having too much fun. Fun can be addictive, when things don't really seem to matter or be understood."
