Five-piece Stornoway came together at Oxford University where one of their number, vocalist Brian Briggs, was reading zoology. He later gained a PhD in ornithology and he remains a keen bird watcher. This pastoral folk pop song is inspired by his hobby.
Beachcomber's Windowsill is Stornoway's debut album and it was recorded at home on a small tape machine. Briggs told The Daily Mail: "It was made in bedrooms and living rooms, if you listen closely, you'll hear us muttering away in the background. We assumed we'd be asked to re-do the songs, but the label liked them so much."
