This is the title track from English indie rock band The Cribs' fourth studio album. The Cribs are brothers Gary Jarman (vocals/bass), Ryan Jarman (guitar/vocals), and Ross Jarman (drums). For Ignore the Ignorant they were joined by ex-Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr, who became a formal member of the group in February 2008.
The song was partly inspired by the far right British National Party's success in the 2009 European Parliamentary elections, particularly in The Cribs' home county of Yorkshire.
This song, along with the rest of the album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Nick Launay, who has worked with such artists as Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Arcade Fire, Supergrass, and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.
