This track from the musical Parade has music by Jason Robert Brown and is based on the true story of the April 1913 slaying of young Mary Phagan and the trial of factory manager Leo Frank, which resulted in his conviction for her murder. Sung principally by Leo Frank with a little assistance from his wife, Lucille, it appears in Act Two after he is informed that his case is to be reinvestigated. This is a hopeful song, but hope for Frank was in vain. His appeals were turned down, and although his death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment, in August 1915 he was abducted from the state prison farm at Milledgeville by a well organized gang of prominent citizens, driven to Marietta, and lynched.
