Interesting facts and trivia about Latimer's Mercy. By Songfacts®.

The song was inspired by a real-life farmer who killed his suffering daughter in 1993. At a press conference launching Scream in Canada, Osbourne explained that the song chronicles Saskatchewan farmer Robert Latimer's decision to end his disabled daughter's life. Latimer was convicted of second-degree murder. The rocker told Canada's CanWest News Service, "It must be a very difficult thing when you give birth to a child that is so messed up, she doesn't have any quality of life... seeing her go through pain and agony."
