Leader Alexis Taylor explained the lyrical content to Pitchfork Media: "I'm talking about turning a one night stand into someone's whole life and I think that's quite a nice thing to say."
Taylor expanded on the song's theme of life-long love to The Sun newspaper January 22, 2010: "People are surprised that you would have heartfelt lyrics over this kind of music but it's natural to me to hear that. You hear that in lots of disco records. I'm talking about turning a one night stand into someone's whole life and I think that's quite lovely."
