Cloud 9

To be on cloud 9 is a state of euphoria. The expression derives from terminology used by the US Weather Bureau. Clouds are divided into classes and each class into nine types. The ninth cloud is the cumulonimbus, which rises to 6.2 miles (10 km), the highest a cloud can be.
