BTS recorded this upbeat pop song as part of the CD single of "Butter." The four-track single also includes instrumental versions of both tracks.
The song is a celebration of individuality and enjoying life. Rather than giving into depression in trying times, the K-Pop septet remain upbeat as they "don't need permission to dance."
BTS released the single on July 9, 2021, which coincided with the eighth anniversary of the group's fanbase, ARMY. The South Korean boy band's label, Big Hit, described the song as one that "will make your heart beat to the rhythm of BTS's positive energy."
