Make It Right

This grungy stomper features backing vocals by Justin Timberlake. The "Can't Stop The Feeling!" singer was working on new music at Los Angeles' EastWest Studios at the same time as the Foos, and he took the opportunity to share some libations with Grohl. "We'd drink whiskey in the parking lot," Grohl told Rolling Stone. "He was really, really cool." Timberlake was also listening to what the Foos were doing and liked what he heard. Grohl recalled: "The night before his last day, he says, 'Can I sing on your record? I don't want to push it, but – I just want to be able to tell my friends.'" Grohl went on to explain that the ex-'N Sync crooner sings some "la la las" on "Make It Right." "He nailed it," Grohl said. "I'm telling you – the guy's going somewhere."

Timberlake's name doesn't show up in the credits. Grohl told The Sun: "He said he didn't need to be credited and just wanted to be able to say he was on a Foo Fighters' record. It's incredibly flattering because I always presume people don't like our band, so when he said he liked us I was really kind of blown away."

Speaking to UK's Absolute Radio, Dave Grohl said how Justin Timberlake's guest appearance impressed him and the rest of the band. "When he came in to sing on this song with us, he was such a pro, man - it was just like that [snaps fingers]; his pitch, his singing, everything was perfect," said the Foo Fighters frontman. "And then he gets behind the desk and he says, 'Okay, you might wanna roll off a little 2K on the high-frequency thing with the three-part harmony, favor this line over the others because that's the root note. He seemed like a producer, you know."
