"Constellations," Jade LeMac's starry-eyed debut single, launched her into the alt-pop stratosphere. She wrote the chorus when she was 15, composed the whole song a year later, and released the track on August 11, 2021.
The piano ballad is about the thrill of intimacy when you're with your romantic partner. Hands on your waist Liquor is all that we taste Your freckles lead the way I trace your constellations LeMac uses celestial imagery to capture the sheer wonder of connection. Freckles become stars, and a lover's body transforms into a sky full of stories waiting to be discovered. "I've always loved the sky," LeMac told Xtra. "So I thought of constellations and a way to tie that into a song. Then I was thinking about the freckles on [someone's] body, being super intimate with that person."
LeMac, who is proudly part of the LGBTQ+ community, left the identity of the song's subject open, allowing listeners to project their own interpretations.
