Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Move You. By Songfacts®.

"Move You" is a soulful power ballad that was written by first time Kelly Clarkson collaborators Amy Kuney, Molly Kate Kestner and Nick Ruth. Over a sensuous acoustic guitar, hand claps and gospel backup vocals, Clarkson sings of the desire to impact the life of a significant other person. Like a montage in a movie, right before the hero dies Like the first time that you listen to your favorite singer live Like an echo in a canyon Like tears, but you're not sad Like a sunrise on a mountain I wanna move you like that The lovelorn Clarkson fell so hard for the person the first time that she met him that she dreams of having the same effect on the guy as a moving film montage.

"Move You" came about as a result of Clarkson's A&R hearing "Slow Dance," a song that Amy Kuney, Nick Ruth and Molly Kate Kestner originally wrote for the latter. Clarkson loved it and recorded the smoldering jam for Meaning of Life. Kuney told Billboard the singing star then flew the three songwriters out to Nashville where they had a week of solid writing. "There were like four different groups of people writing in different rooms and she would come in and listen, and if she liked it, she'd cut it," she recalled. "So we wrote 'Move You' and she cut it, I think that day or the next day."
