Three Days Grace explained the inspiration behind this song in an Artist Direct interview. Bassist Brad Walst said, "It was about something you love being taken away from you. We have a friend who was going through some tough times. It's about that. It seems like everything you touch goes away or turns bad in a sense." Matt Walst, the band's lead singer, added: "It seems like everything starts off good. Love deteriorates at a certain point."
