Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Wild Fire. By Songfacts®.

On "Wild Fire," Marling sings about a friend who keeps a "pen behind her ear" and constantly jots down her thoughts in a journal. The only part that I want to read Is about her time spent with me Wouldn't you like to know how you're seen? Are you getting away with who you're trying to be Q magazine asked Marling if she's hinting at her feelings about being in the public eye. "Well I guess I'm in a particularly unique position for that," she replied coyly. "But yeah, I mean that's such a normal unconscious human desire, I think."

Marling told MTV News the journal-keeping friend is "an exaggerated version of someone I know." She explained: "This exaggerated person is the kind of person that writes in a journal every day, who is present in her experience of the world and is always documenting it. It reminded me of a time where I thought I was really special. I feel like that's a wonderful time, especially for creative people, where you're completely oblivious to your complete non-specialness in the general scheme of the world. I'm just envious of that because that was a great time. [laughs]"
