Cole raps on this spacey, piano-heavy track about the difficulty of sustaining a 10-year relationship when he craves freedom. "You don't wanna let her down but you're too young for the settle down," he spits before talking about slave women being raped by their slave masters, which was the cause of his grandmother's light complexion.
Cole samples his own Interlude from The Sideline Story album on this song. The Carolina rapper's right-hand man Ibrahim "IB" Hamad told Vibe magazine: "It only had one verse on it for a while but even then, it just felt special. When he added the other two verses, it just became such an important part of the Born Sinner story."
The song starts with a skit from Mike Epps' stand-up comedy special Under Rated & Never Faded.
