Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Party Like Tomorrow is the End of the World. By Songfacts®.

The first single from Steel Panther's All You Can Eat album, this song covers a topic Prince explored in "1999" - the coming apocalypse and the party leading up to it. Steel Panther offers very specific suggestions for this end-of-world celebration: poke a silverblack gorilla in the eye, rob a bank, etc.

Like many Steel Panther songs, this one starts right in with the vocal. In our interview with their guitarist Satchel, he said this songwriting technique was a response to shorter attention spans. "In this day and age where we've got cell phones where you can listen to anything and watch anything at any minute of the day, people don't have the extra 15 seconds to waste on an intro," he said. "They just want to hear the song."

The music video was directed by Rob Riggle, a comedian who has done stints on The Daily Show and Saturday Night Live. Riggle also plays Satan in the clip, informing the band that he is ending the world the next day, which triggers the ensuing bacchanalia. At the end of the video, Satan is having such a good time that he decides not to end the world after all. Also appearing in the video are Jackass star Steve-O, fighter Chuck Liddell, and porn star Ron Jeremy.
