Norah Jones moved to New York from the Dallas suburb of Grapevine in 1999 and rented a small apartment in Greenwich Village. She hoped to discover herself as a live performer and make ends meet by waiting tables. "Little Room" is about this apartment. She says in the Daily Mail August 31, 2007: "I had no money and I was scared, but I was also having the time of my life - a lot of things went on in that flat!"
