Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about For the Price of a Cup of Tea. By Songfacts®.

Belle and Sebastian lead singer Stuart Murdoch said of this song: "The producer (Tony Hoffer) asked us to write a hit, and this is what we came up with. It's a very old song called 'The Olympian Boy' crossed with a new chorus, set to a groove that Bob (Bobby Kildea) came up with. I bought some tea in a posh tea shop, and Bob said, 'Jeez, you could get a line of coke for that!'"

This features additional musician Chris Reynolds on percussion.

Together with "The Boys Are Still Blue," this was mixed by Tony Doogan at The Castle of Doom, Glasgow.
