Meek Mill has worked with Jeremih on several previous occasions, including the Philly rapper's Dreams & Nightmares track "Amen" and DJ Drama's Quality Street Music tune "My Moment." The only time Meek Mill had previously hooked up with with PnB was on Lil Bibby's 2016 song, "Some How Some Way." "Dangerous" marked the first collaboration between PnB Rock and Jeremih.

The song was included on Meek Mill's Legends of the Summer EP, the rapper's first project following his release from prison in April 2018. Released as the record's second single the song was officially certified with gold status by RIAA on November 28, 2018, It was later included on his Championships album.
