Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Pom Poms. By Songfacts®.

This brassy marching band sing-along pop song was released by the Jonas Brothers as the first single off their fifth studio album, which was later canceled after the band's split. When asked by Ryan Seacrest what exactly the guys are referencing on the track, Nick Jonas said, "It's kind of self-explanatory. It's got a lot of different meanings. I've got my own personal meaning for it." The bouncy tune was released on April 2, 2013, through Jonas Brothers Recording LLC.

The music video was filmed in February 2013 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The three Jonas brothers were accompanied on a high school football field by Saints and Hornets cheerleaders and the Southern University marching band. We also see Nick's smooth dance moves on display during a girls vs. boys dance break. "I had to do a bit of dancing in How To Succeed... last year on Broadway so I learned a little bit," he told Ryan Seacrest. "In this one it was about having a good time. I'm not saying I'm a dancer by any means."

Other examples of Cheerleader pop include: Tony Basil's "Mickey" Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin'"
