She understands they've been "pushed 'round" and "feel the pain," so are hesitant to break the cycle.
The song was released as the follow-up to Tones and I's breakthrough hit, "Dance Monkey." Like that song, it was penned solely by the singer and produced by Konstantin Kersting.
