Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Tucson Train. By Songfacts®.

This rootsy ballad finds Bruce Springsteen singing of a construction worker who leaves San Francisco for a new life in Arizona. The guy had a volatile relationship with his lover, whom he left behind in California. However, after being separated, they found they missed each other; now he rejoices that "baby's coming in on the Tucson train."

Producer Ron Aniello augments Springsteen's guitar playing with strings and horns. The roots-rock veteran is a longtime collaborator of The Boss, having also produced his Wrecking Ball and High Hopes albums.

The black-and-white video features Springsteen and his band, including wife Patti Scialfa, in the studio recording "Tucson Train" live. The performance clip was directed by Thom Zimny, a longtime chronicler of Springsteen's career. His film credits include The Ties That Bind documentary on the making of The River album and the Springsteen on Broadway Netflix special.
