This is one of the first songs that Joshua Radin wrote after moving to Los Angeles; he penned it for the Zach Braff romantic comedy movie The Last Kiss. The track plays at the end of the film.
Radin explained during a Reddit AMA that the song is, "about the 'Star Mile' meaning the Hollywood Walk of Fame, all the stars in the pavement." "And it's a song I was trying to tell a friend," he added, "don't get caught up in all the LA bulls--t."
