"I Love My Country" is a rocking ode to life in rural America and the music Florida Georgia Line love to blast out loud. The duo released the country rocker as their lead single from their fifth album. "This was one of the first songs we did for our upcoming project," the duo's Tyler Hubbard revealed to Esquire. "And it's just made us feel so good and gave us so much joy."
"I Love My Country" is loud and boisterous. A banjo figure threads through the track beneath electric guitars and heavy drum beats. "We've been craving the organic elements of what we do," said Hubbard. "We're taking it back to recording with a full band, and then having fun bringing in different programming. It feels like a cool hybrid of a really country feel with different elements of rock and hip-hop."
Florida Georgia Line didn't pen the song. The songwriters are: Nashville songwriter Ernest K. Smith, who helped Florida Georgia Line write their previous single, "Blessings." Charlie Handsome, a producer known for his work with artists from an assortment of genres. They include Khalid ("Better"), Travis Scott ("5% Tint") and Trevor Daniel ("Falling"). Corey Crowder, who is a member of Florida Georgia Line's Tree Vibez publishing company and frequent collaborator of Chris Young. He also co-penned Florida Georgia Line's similarly themed "Can't Say I Ain't Country."
