This was written by Budgie, a '70s Welsh band that was one of the first "metal" bands, like Black Sabbath. Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich, is a big fan of Budgie and would visit them when he was in the UK. Metallica also covered Budgie's 1971 song "Crash Course in Brain Surgery."
Metallica originally used this as the B-side of the "Eye of The Beholder" single.
