Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Rock Candy. By Songfacts®.

You're like candy, baby, hard, sweet and sticky. Yeah, right, she gets the message, but so was George Formby's little stick of Blackpool rock. The sixth track on the eponymous debut album by Montrose runs 5:05 and is a group composition: drummer Denny Carmassi, bass player Bill Church, then vocalist Sammy Hagar, and the man himself, Ronnie Montrose. After Hagar left the band he continued to play the song - it remains to be seen why. Its inspiration appears to have been the Led Zepellin track "When The Levee Breaks," in particular Carmassi's experimenting with the drum introduction.
