Son of Dork was formed by James Bourne, after his previous group Busted split up. The band's name came from a scene in the film Problem Child where the chant "Son of Dork" is used. The band's bassist, Steve Rushton, later had success as a singer-songwriter in America.
This song was Son of Dork's debut single. It was penned two weeks after Busted broke up.
The music video features a De Lorean car, which famously featured in the movie Back to the Future. The film has featured in James Bourne's projects such as the Busted song "Year 3000" and the band name of McFly, for whom Bourne has contributed several songs.
