Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Vroom. By Songfacts®.

Growing up in East London, singer/rapper Yxng Bane was surrounded by reggae and dancehall music artists such as Beenie Man. For this car-as-a-metaphor-for-sex song he pays tribute to the "King of The Dancehall" by alluding to his 1997 classic track "Who Am I (Sim Simma)" on the chorus. Ah who got the keys to the beamer Her body goes vroom vroom vroom Beenie Man's original lyric was "Who got de keys to my bimma. Who am I de girls dem sugar."

Yxng Bane called in Beenie Man himself to jump on the song's remix. He told The Jamaica Observer: "As a child growing up I always saw him on the television. He's the man with the original keys."

An early version of the song without the female voice on the chorus was first leaked on SoundCloud back in 2016. At that time it was titled "Wanna Know."
