Monsters of Folk are an alternative rock band made up of Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, and indie singer-songwriter M. Ward. Mogis said of this track to Express Night Out: "To me that song is like a futuristic '50s rock song. It's a standard '50s progression, but it sounds like futuristic '50s music, if that doesn't sound backwards."
