Interesting facts and trivia about Like the Morning Dew. By Songfacts®.

This song about a doomed relationship is one of a number of tracks on Sing To The Moon, which despite a sad lyrical content retains a certain joyous quality. Mvula confessed to Mojo magazine: "I'm quite a melancholic soul. But I want the harmonies to evoke the feeling of immense joy at the same time as the deepest pain."

The second verse includes the lyric, "try to write the perfect song for you." In our interview with Mvula, she explained: "There are songs that are successful and they have chart success, or they sell records, or whatever. So there was that sort of tongue-in-cheek meaning: 'Tried to write the perfect song for you, then I realized I didn't belong to you.' I was just having fun with the idea of it. Because I was so new to this industry way of working, these elements - the components of the music industry that most artists are familiar with - for me was all very new. So I was having fun with the idea that you might as well suggest that artists are trying to write perfect songs."
