Crush On You

"Crush On You" was the break-out success of The Jets, being their first charting single at #3, tied with their subsequent hit "You Got It All." Like most of the songs on their debut self-titled album the Jets, it was written by the songwriting team of Jerry Knight and Aaron Zigman.

The Jets were quite enigmatic. They sound as American as a car-ribbon-magnet, but their family came from Tonga (It's an island in the South Pacific). Then their album cover photos always seemed crowded, because there were eight of them and they were all siblings. But that's nothing! In total, the Wolfgramm family had seventeen kids. And last, you wouldn't expect it with the dance-club-friendly love songs, but the family are all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). So they came from Utah right? No, Minnesota. Listen for that "Minneapolis Sound" developed by Prince and very popular in the '80s, and you'll hear it on this track.

The Jets have a preference for performing at sporting events. They sang "The Star Spangled Banner" for the seventh game of the 1987 World Series, held in their hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and for the third game of the 1991 Stanley Cup Final in suburban Bloomington, Minnesota. Also they've performed at two Olympic events, the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
