Here, Drake links up with Playboi Carti for the first collaboration between the two. The song title nods to the slogan of hip-hop oriented fashion designer Ian Connor, which reads "Born from Pain 1993." Connor, who has worked with A$AP Rocky and Kanye West, is a longtime friend of both Drake and Carti.
The title does not appear in the lyrics. Instead, it features standard braggadocio rap lyrics with Drake flexing about his beachfront Turks mansion. He also talks about his willingness to beef his fellow rappers when he has issues with them. Playboi's verse is all about his wealth and the luxury brands he can afford as a successful rapper.
Frequent Playboi Carti producer Pi'erre Bourne supplied the instrumental. The Queens, New York-based beatmaker's previously collaborations with Carti include "Magnolia" and "Wokeuplikethis."
