Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Space Suit. By Songfacts®.

Despite being released on the band's fourth album in 1992, "Space Suit" is one of They Might Be Giants first songs, and was performed at the band's first concert in 1983, and possibly dates back even farther.

John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants said: "That song was written to incorporate a bunch of chords I had learned under the instruction of Jack DeSalvo, a guitarist I took lessons from in the early '80s. It was originally titled 'I'll Remember 3rd Street' to reflect its jazzy origins, but once the recording was made with the spacey synth part its final title seemed more appropriate."
