If anyone had any doubt about the meaning of bubblegum music, this song surely defines it; although neither member of Toy-Box was born until after the heyday of bubblegum, this would unquestionably have been a top ten hit in Britain in 1972. Sadly (or otherwise!) when "Tarzan & Jane" was released in the UK, in 1999, it flopped. Interesting the bubblegum duo are Danes of Asian and part-Moroccan origin, but English has long been the lingua franca of the known universe. At least Toy-Box play it strictly for laughs, though one has to ask where did she get that voice?
Despite its failure in the UK, the song charted in several other European countries including the Netherlands (#2), Norway (#3) and Sweden (#8).
