In this song Warren Hue has a girl on his mind, and he doesn't want to waste any time. "It is energetic and happy, but the lyrics discuss sad themes of fame and relationships," he explained. "The juxtaposition brings a unique feeling to listeners."
"Omomo Punk" was Hue's first release as part of the 88rising collective of Asian performers (he is of Indonesian descent). He was just 18 when it was released, but had been making music since he was 14 and in 2020 ran up 2 million Spotify streams for his song "Candy Choppa." Hue is known for his versatile vocals, which he shows off on this song with rapid-fire rapping, shifts in flows, and singing. He studied artists like Frank Ocean and Kanye West.
The video was shot in Joshua Tree National Park and directed by Jason Ano of 88rising. Hue goes through a number of wardrobe changes throughout, looking like he raided either a thrift shop or a high-end boutique. His love interest is played by the model Kati Garceau.
