This is a track from Whole Lotta Red, Playboi Carti's second full-length album. Released on Christmas Day 2020, the record's imagery and merchandise designs are drawn from punk rock and heavy metal. The cover art is inspired by a picture of The Damned singer Dave Vanian on the cover of '70s punk rock outlet Slash Magazine.
This song finds Playboi Carti recounting several moments throughout his career, from his early days in the local Atlanta music scene when he followed Atlanta legends KEY! and ManMan Savage, to claiming he tried to co-sign Trippie Redd before he became famous. Through it all, Playboi has continued to walk his own path and live a punk rock lifestyle. The notoriously private MC even denies being a rapper, saying he just writes poems.
The production is courtesy of: New Orleans beatmaker Lukrative (Playboi Cart's "Stop Breathing," Future & Lil Uzi Vert's "She Never Been to Pluto"). Philadelphia producer F1lthy, who contributed to six Whole Lotta Red tracks. Atlanta producer and loopmaker Lucian. This is his first placement on a major artist's track.
