Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Hell or High Water. By Songfacts®.

This was the song that kick-started Passenger's Runaway album. The singer, real name Mike Rosenberg, told The Sun he wrote it just after he'd got out of a relationship and "was a bit confused by the whole thing" as he started questioning why it didn't work. "Was it all my fault, her fault, or both? All of that poured itself into a song," Rosenberg added. "It was like Let Her Go, it came out easily and quickly."

The song's music video was shot over the course of a few days in various national and state American parks, including Monument Valley, Valley of Fire, Death Valley and Joshua Tree. Rosenberg said: "These epic and vast landscapes really help to portray a feeling of being lost in a hopeless quest for answers."

The meaning of the Runaway album title is actually the opposite of what it sounds like. Rosenberg explained to HMV.com it's "about the fact that for the first time in a long time" he didn't feel the need to escape. "I've spent the last 10 years constantly touring and haven't had much reason to stick around anywhere," he added. "I'm 34 now and I've got a girlfriend and a house and two cats, I don't want to run away, I like where I'm at. It's a celebration of that."
