A cut from Elle Varner's second album, Four Letter Word, the Los Angeles singer sees the vengeful ballad as part of her natural progression from her debut record. "When I wrote most of Perfectly Imperfect, I was really young," she told Billboard magazine "I hadn't really been in too many relationships or experienced breakups." "['F--k It All'] doesn't mean I'm sad or I'm dark," Varner added.
Many of the Four Letter Word tracks, including this one were written and sung by Varner on the spot. "A lot of the vocals on the album were kind of like a performance in front of six people in the control room," she recalled. "'F--k It All,' for example, I have this one video of me singing the song with a mic in my hand in the control room while I'm reading it off my laptop, 'cause I just wrote it a few minutes ago."
