This song finds Rivers Cuomo asking someone to forgive the poor parenting skills of their dad. He told NME the lyrics, "could be me singing about my father or me singing about my daughter."

Rivers' father, Frank Cuomo, walked out on his family in the mid-'70s, when the Weezer frontman was about four. Rivers saw Frank infrequently after that and he sung about his absent dad on Weezer's 1994 hit "Say It Ain't So." They renewed their relationship around the time "Say It Ain't So" was released and Frank has become a big presence in his son's life in recent years. "Now I see him all the time," Rivers told Rolling Stone. "Now that I'm a father, I've forgiven my parents."
