Sick Puppies are an Australian rock band comprising vocalist and guitarist Shimon Moore, bassist Emma Anzai and drummer Mark Goodwin. This song was the group's second single from their third album, Tri-Polar.
Emma told Shauna O'Donnell in an interview on the internet radio station MUEN Talk why this is one of her favorite songs off Tri-Polar: "I met Shimm in high school and we started the band. We didn't have Mark obviously back then. We both had this vision to start a band and we were the only ones that sort of went to the music room during lunch time. Everyone else was hanging out with their friends and we were like the outcasts. We didn't know each other. We'd go up to the music room and I had booked it and he had booked it, we double booked it. That was the only time we got to play ever because we were at school all the time. We decided to play together then since we were the only ones there and we decided to start a band. Even when you grow up it doesn't mean that those feelings go away, I think it just changes a little. When we would play it for other people they would say 'It reminds me of me. It feels like you're talking about me.'"
The video shows Sick Puppies performing at a skatepark intercut with a love story between two teenagers. Emma explained the clip to Shauna O'Donnell: "We had a director meeting about whom to go with on the video. We had treatments coming in and we were like 'Should we make it about this or this?' This one treatment came in and it was a story about the girl. After we read it we thought it was really powerful and it was exactly what the song was about. It's about feeling really odd. At the end there is a nice little tie in, it was pretty cool."
