West sprinkled a sample of a Christian congregation worshipping the Lord throughout the first half of the song. He took it from "Congregation Speaks in Tongues When Led by Holy Spirit" (2011) by Rev. Dr. David P. Moten. Bishop Moten is the Pastor of The Joy of the Lord Worship Center, a Pentecostal church in Victoria, Texas. Once the triumphant piano kicks in, they disappear. The piano is played by Zen Micheline Hung, a sixth grade student at New York City's public K-12 school.

Kanye West croons this song with the help of vocal editor Louis Bell. The Massachusetts native is Post Malone's go-to producer; his resumé also includes production for the likes of Camila Cabello ("Havana") and Jonas Brothers ("Sucker").
