Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Driving In My Car - 7" Single. By Songfacts®.

Madness pay tribute on this symphony of horns and spanners to a Morris Minor car that was used by the group in the early years before they became famous. Both 7-inch and 12-inch versions were released, the latter having the bonus of a third track, "Riding On My Bike," which was inspired by the band's fondness for cycling.

The video features the band as car mechanics and also driving around in their "white 1959 model Morris Minor." Frontman Suggs recalled to Uncut magazine January 2013: "Madness videos were seven extroverts all mucking about trying to outdo each other, to the point where, in that particular video, Lee (Thompson, sax) turned up as an exploding traffic warden. There was nowhere to go after that!"

The song featured in the 1983 film Party, Party.
