This is the first single by American R&B artist Ne-Yo, from his fourth studio album, Libra Scale. It was written by Ne-Yo and produced by Stargate with the help of French producer Sandy V.
The up-tempo track premiered on May 25, 2010, and was made available as a Digital Download on June 1, 2010.
The song's music video connects to the overall story that Ne-Yo tells throughout the Libra Scale album. "'Beautiful Monster,' in a nutshell, represents the love interest/ archnemesis in the story [of] Libra Scale, which the entire album is based off of," the singer told MTV News.
He added: " 'Beautiful Monster' is one piece of a very long and intricate story. When you see the first video, make sure that you're paying attention because all of the videos tell a story. So pay attention - you don't want to miss nothing."
