Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Love Is Everywhere (Beware). By Songfacts®.

Jeff Tweedy wrote this acoustic-driven number as a caution to self not to use love as just a sedative. He explained to NPR's All Songs Considered: "For love to triumph I believe we're duty bound to create more of it, and for more people - people we don't know, even people we don't like! And that takes courage I don't always have. The song is a reminder to myself to act with more love and courage and less outrage and anesthetized fear."

Inspired by his trip to Washington, DC in January 2017 for the Women's March and by the panic attack that hit him on the National Mall, Tweedy reflects over wistful guitar lines: Sadness wants me Further away from the scene Right now love is everywhere Tweedy explained to Uncut that he's not sure all those good feelings and good intentions will be enough to set the world right. "It's a real challenge to write about this current moment, and I really struggled to find a way to write about it well not writing about it," he said. "Maybe everybody is struggling with this, but I was thinking a lot about how to maintain hope right now, how to not feel guilty for having joy in my life. How do you deal with having personal feelings when you know something very destructive is going on and there are real people being hurt everyday in awful ways?"
