Shelton wrote this song with Jessi Alexander, Chase McGill and Rhett Atkins. Alexander previously collaborated with Shelton on "Savior's Shadow." Atkins co-wrote Shelton's hits "All About Tonight," "Honeybee," and "Boys Round Here."
The song mentions Hank Williams ("but even old Hank Williams finally saw the light"). Williams, who died in 1953 at 29 years old, was one of the most influential country musicians to ever live. He was also a notorious hell-raiser.
