Man On The Moon is a concept album about the life so far of Cleveland rapper Kid Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi). Cudi's father died from cancer when he was eleven-years-old and his loss had a significant effect on young Scott's personality. In this song he notes that he "took a turn to the worse when my father left me lonely."
A certain Billy Cravens is credited as a featured vocalist on this track. Regarding the identity of the unknown singer, Cudi tweeted: "As far as who Billy Cravens is, the world will never know... he wants to keep his identity private."
