Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Seven Nights Seven Days. By Songfacts®.

This was the first single from The Fratellis third album, which came five years after their previous effort, Here We Stand. Tensions in the band caused their split in 2009, but in 2013 the Glasgow trio got back together for a few gigs, which led to the We Need Medicine album.

Lead singer Jon Fratelli describes this song as "sort of autobiographical." It's an upbeat track with downbeat lyrics of broken dreams and finding the strength to face the day. In our 2013 interview, Jon stated: "The character in that song sounds like he's in a desperate place and needs some hope from somewhere. I guess we've all felt like that at times."

The video follows a bedraggled clown who torments his audience. He is beaten and scorned, but redeemed when he finds a female clown who becomes his partner. Jon Fratelli told us about the clip: "It's really just trying to convey the idea of someone who finds themselves in the wrong time, trying desperately to perform for people who don't understand him. Clowns being 'old fashioned' as a form of entertainment seemed to tell that story well."
