Recorded by XXXTentacion with his good friend, the LA-based songwriter and producer John Cunningham, "Train Food" was the first song laid down for his posthumous album Skins.
Over haunting piano, accompanied by the sounds of a train and a thunderstorm, XXXTentacion offers up a detailed tale of an encounter with death. The rapper wakes up tied to train tracks and as he lies dying, X realizes he has wasted his time dreaming "'bout a diamond chain and a Maybach" and not caring.
Cunningham said that he was with X throughout the recording of the song so he could state categorically "it was truly just him telling a story," and not about anything in his life. The producer added: "Whether it was based on a true event or not didn't matter, it's just about people's interpretation of it."
