Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Just A Little Girl. By Songfacts®.

Amy Studt started writing this song when she was 8, and was 15 when it was released. Her songwriting partner, David Eriksen, remixed many of her songs, and a bootleg copy of this record saw her gain a record deal with Polydor Records when it was submitted to manger Simon Fuller, who also launched the careers of the Spice Girls. Many of the songs on Amy's first album, False Smiles, released a year later, deal with life issues and draw on her own experiences, like being bullied in school and nearly dying at age 12 after being diagnosed with severe Osteomyelitis, which left her unable to walk for nearly two years.

Studt was often dubbed as the UK's version of Avril Lavigne when this single came out. In fact, Amy had written all but one of the songs on her debut album before Avril Lavigne had even entered a recording studio for the first time.

Studt was dropped from her record label in 2004 despite her debut album selling healthily around Europe. She toured with Razorlight in 2006 and 2007.
