Over a synthesizer bed, this emotive and vulnerable ballad finds Charli XCX trading verses with Sky Ferreira. The pair explore the personal transformation that occurs after severing ties with someone who was causing them grief. The song was produced by: Charli's longtime collaborator A.G. Cook, who is the head of UK record label PC Music. Swedish producer Lotus IV, who also collaborated with Charli on her Christine and the Queens duet "Gone." His other credits include "Stay" by Zedd & Alessia Cara and "Don't Leave Me Alone" by David Guetta.

Fans have speculated that Charli is singing about her former manager, Dave Bianchi. "That song... is definitely about change in my life," she carefully told The Guardian. "Look, I don't want to say anything bad about people I've worked with; it's not my style. I will say that, with any relationship, there's a point where it feels like a breakup."
